Commentary on hymn For Doomed Youth              anthem For Doomed Youth by Wilfred Owen is a Petrarchan sonnet, writ  tenner to  confront the horror of the First World War. The  rime  chiefly aims to  invent the fate of the soldiers fighting the war, and its effect on the lives of those involved. By  contrast the soldiers deaths with the Christian funeral services, he comments on the dark  ridicule that the  teenage men who died for their country, were denied the respectful yet superficial rituals that the  apparitional  hostel values. The  poesy, includes many different themes, however, it is mostly dominated by the  verbiage motif of death. Other ideas include, meaningless and inadequacy of  theology in response to such horrors as seen during the war, anger and sorrow. As antecedently mentioned, the  poetry employs the Petrarchan sonnet form, while still  use the  poetry  escape of an Elizabethan sonnet. Owen has divided the fourteen courses of the  meter into  devil stanzas, an o   ctet and a  sixer with the break/ passage line coming by the end of line 8. Furthermore, the poem has ten syll adapteds of iambic pentameters and follows a  verse line scheme of abab, cdcd, effe, gg. This alternate rhyme scheme, which changes from one quartet to the next, gives the poem a sense of purpose.  to each one of the two stanzas of the sonnet, begins with a  gesture that the remainder of the section answers. By using, the sonnet structure in his poem, Owen is able to introduce a touch of irony, because the traditional  break of a sonnet is to  thread love. However, since the main content of this poem is of anti-love, the reader is therefore able to appreciate the deaths of the soldiers. The octet is  primarily dominated by the  locomote of battle while the sestet is characterized by muted grief. By using a  junto of diction, syntax, imagery and the devices of sound and sense, Owen portrays his  malignity and anger towards war.
